i just got back from the philly show, and, ummm, after seeing gvsb five times before, this show sort of lacked the intensity that was portrayed the previous times before....

it was too predictable....

like: 1) Guess what t-shirt eli was wearing----you guessed it, "picture this t-shirt wet"
2) only one song from cruise yourself, and only two from v-lux
3)tons of new songs, and tons of house of gvsb songs....
4)the same set they have been playing, the same songs....

overall, it was  a good show, but i think that i am now having more of a hard time adjusting to the big change.

i like the old gvsb, and i like the new gvsb, but it some ways, they aren't the same band anymore...

eli doesn't really play bass, and scott's guitar lines on the new songs have taken over eli's basslines...

you couldn't really hear eli's keyboards....

no suprises in the set, i would have much preferred something like "go be delighted" over "crash 17"....

every older song they played tonight, i have seen them play before, but it was nice to see the new stuff, but you can tell the album was overdub crazy, as the sound seemed a little thin...

the set: (maybe a little out of whack)
park ave
pyscho future
disco666
kindamzk
superfire
roxy
american black hole
vera cruz
bulletproof cupid
vogue thing
cowboy's orbit
x rated car
learned it
kill the sexplayer
-
in like flynn
excoristo
let me come back

that's all...
after seeing them play songs like distracted and magattraction in the past, i think that seeing them live so many times has made me notice that i have seen them before....

not disappointed, just, it was too predictable....

good show, i hope everyone gets to see them this time around, if not, i'm sure you can see practically the same thing next time...
