Went to the show at Bowery last night & I thought that they definitely
kicked ass. They played a really intense hour & fifteen playing 17
songs, 7 from Freakonica, 6 from House, 3 from Venus, & 1 from Cruise
Yourself (see bottom for set list) I was up front in the middle & it
didn't seem like the majority of the crowd was that into it. I guess a
lot of them had either never heard Freakonica or just never heard of
GVSB period. Either way, the highlights for me (even though everything
was really strong) included Disco 666, In Like Flynn (probably my
favorite GVSB song), Learned It, Super-Fire & Roxy (a song I'll never
listen to the same way again after hearing it live). Some guy kept
yelling for My Martini & Eli & Scott kind of laughed. Then someone
yelled Kill The Sexplayer & they played it. I liked this concert a lot
more than CBGBs in March because it definitely makes the experience
better when you already know the music before going in. (That's how I
am anyway.) Can't wait to see them again in August!
