I got into GVSB since a friend of mine by the name of Ibrahim from DC told me about them and have been a fan of theirs ever since.  It would be the first time I'd ever see GVSB live and I arrived to the club (Fitzgerald's-small place) and walked into a Stanford Prison Experiment which was 5 minutes in.  Stanford was pretty good, the lead singer was really into it. They did a good job as I expected. Next up was Buffalo Daughter and well, lets just say they made me really anxious to see GVSB. They had a couple of catchy spots in some songs but I was disappointed to say the least.  Out of nowhere when I was watching Buffalo Daughter (nobody was there at that time) Johnny came from backstage and stood in front of me watching the daughter.  I congratulated him on the groups' new album and that was about it. In my opinion, Johnny seems like a nice guy but a little quiet in front of people he doesn't know. Well, GVSB was scheduled for 11:00 but after setup, they came on 11:20.  (This is the part where I'd tell you about the songs, but I'll save it for the end.)  As far as the show goes, every song KICKED ASS.  The whole house of 150 people approx. in an area for about 400 was rocking. Their wasn't any moshing (did I spell that right, who gives a fuck?)  Except for a little amongst 5 or 6 people and one drunk ass Mexican man in his thirties who didn't know what the fuck was going on and constantly was flicking off people.  The show kicked ass, and it made me sweat, literally. My whole shirt was wet from jamming to the brilliantly executed songs.  By the way, the seating was general admission and since I came five minutes after Stanford got on, I was standing dead center in front of Scott against the black barrier. One kick ass part was when "The Kinda Mzk You Like was on and me and my brother pointed at Alexis (in a way letting him know that he was awesome) and he winked back and proceeded with killer drumming.  The show progressed and in the end,  Fitz's Place was royally FUCKED with the sweet sounds of GVSB.  The band members went back stage and me and my bro went to the stand and picked up a shirt/seven inch of Park Avenue and the house of GVSB CD. Meantime, the whole place was leaving and in about 5 to 10 minutes, the place was empty.  So I got my cd/7 inch/shirt and walked back to the barrier that separated the stage and the crowd.  Johnny was wrapping up some equipment when I asked him to sign my 7-inch and my CD. We shook hands and that was about it. Next was Eli, who at the same time was also packing equipment. Again, I got my 7-inch and CD signed. My brother, Eli, and I talked openly. I was amazed at how Eli was so cool to talk to us as though he knew us. I mentioned to him that just two nights ago, I saw the band's video of Park Avenue on 120 minutes on MTV. When I said that, Eli was surprised and said that he didn't even know that happened. He also added that the video was not really a video since it was originally made to be a commercial, "30 second clip" he said.  He also told my brother and me that the band would be making a video for Roxy around Sept. if I heard him right.  Next up was Alexis, who came out to get his drums. Eli handed Alexis a sharpie marker and said "The Magical Sharpie" and said that kid would like something signed. Alexis, being cool as he is came over and leaned on a speaker and signed my 7-inch and cd. I told him about how his drumming was amazing and how I really enjoyed it.  So there I was with stuff signed from 3 guys and I was waiting for Scott. I went back over to Eli to ask him if Scott would be coming out. Eli said that Scott would chill backstage for a while and have a beer and then come back out. So I waited patiently and Scott walked out.  Scott just walked to the center edge of the stage where he was talking to two white men along with a black man. They were conversing and were talking about this weird girl (the girl was next to me during the concert) and that's where I sort of got my ass in the conversation. This weird girl sat on the barrier for parts of the show staring at Scott do his guitar thing and periodically tried to touch him.  Scott, the three men, my brother and I shared a laugh at the white man's joke about her, it was all pretty cool. I was running late so I asked Scott if he could sign my 7-inch and CD and he did so. I shaked his hand and he said hey kid, "want a set list".  I said sure so he handed me one.  This was one really good night.
