Instaed of Delta 72 a local band from Cologne opened the show, I think they were called Transonic-Science or something. They sounded a bit like the Cult and a lot like your average whining grunge band (the Cult bit made it bearable for a few minutes). Nobody really bothered to come in to see them, as it was still sunny and warm and everyone was drinking their beer outside.

Then when GVSB came on at 10.30 the venue was suddenly "packed" with about 150 people. Like the other gigs they started with Park Avenue, which was totally brilliant, followed by Disco 666, Sexy Sam, Kill the sexplayer, the whole of Freak*on*ica and a couple of others. My personal favourites were Roxy and Exorcisto. It was really energetic and (yes, believe it or not) sexy! Actually, there seemed to be so much sexual tension in the air that two guys fainted! And no, no one pushed them or anything and they didn't seem to be on drugs or drunk.

The strange thing however was, that GVSB avoided all eye-contact with the audience. They only looked at their instruments or to the floor (is this the return of shoegazing?). But they made up for it by returning three times for encores (playing an additional 8 or 9 songs in total). Great to hear old ones like Jamie and Kitty-Yo again. Then something funny happened: There were tow mics for Scott on stage (one at the front and one at the back), and Scott was at the back  -eyes closed- singing the opening lines to Kitty-Yo, when suddenly the boy infront of me grabbed the mic at the front of the stage and began singing along to the song. A duet with Scott, how brave! Scott didn't notice at first, but when he did he laughed, thanked the guy and took over again (alone). I think they played over two hours and with all the encores the gig went down a treat (the best t-shirts were all sold out after the show).

Roxy was just the coolest song, introduced by an acapella "alright, alright, alright" of the band and the audience.

The audience was really great, too. Some very beautiful girls and some very handsome boys. (As Adam Ant once said:) Sexmusic for sexpeople?

(Needless to say that at least Scott and Johnny got some that night, um...err...)
