I went to the gig at the Logo in Hamburg last Monday. I got there little after 9
pm to see just a handful of people present. This wouldn't change a lot during
the evening. Eventually there were about 60-70 people who showed up. I was a
little disappointed about that but it didn't surprise me. The band doesn't get
any airplay here in Germany. Supporting GSVB this evening was local band
TIGERBEAT replacing DELTA 72. I didn't care for them so much, I just wanted to
see Girls Against Boys. They went on at 10:30 and I got right in front of the
stage facing Scott about three feet away. They opened with Park Avenue. A great
choice to start the show. The song was just made to be played live and it also
had great impact on everybody there watching the band for the first time. Second
song: Psycho Future - definitely my favorite track on FREAKONICA - sounded
excellent. This is how far I remember all the details of the show - what was
coming then I can't describe with words. I got totally lost in the music. "Way
too much fun". During the show Scott thanked the audience for showing up and
managed to say a few words in German. Highlights of the show were Push The Fader
(written out as Push Der Fader on the setlist), Kill The Sexplayer
(unfortunately the only song from Cruise Yourself) and of course In like Flynn,
first song of the encore set.
This was a truly amazing show. Go out to see them!
