I was wrong. I thought about 50 people max would turn up. In the event, I reckon there was about 200 of us there, which, given the size of the venue (Hop & Grape, at the University) is a very respectable turn-out. At the end, Scott and Eli thanked us for turning up, and apologised for the short-notice organisation of the tour. Hey, these boys care!
They started off with Park Avenue, and played a mixture of tracks from *Freak*, House, Cruise, and Venus thereafter. I can't remember every song or in what order, but here are some: American Black Hole, Excorcisto, Roxy, Sexy Sam, Kill the Sex Player, In Like Flynn (encore, the best song of the night), Cowboys' Orbit, Disco666 (eventually ... Eli's keyboard/sequencer died right at the beginning), Rockets Are Red ...
The sound was amazing. For all of you who have doubts about the 'new sound', all I can say is reserve judgement until you hear them live. Everything will suddenly make sense.
On a final note, for all of you fashion watchers out there, Johnny was wearing a white Circus Lupus t-shirt, Eli a rather dapper yellow Charlies' Angels t-shirt, Alexis a red-sporty t-shirt, and Scott a dark shirt. I bought myself a Total Love Action light-blue skinny shirt (which will never fit!)
It was a good 'un!
