I went to see the disco boys at the Princess Charlotte in Leicester last Friday and they were just gorgeous. I spent the day in London stuck in an office, arrived in Leicester in the brilliant sunshine, went for an absolutely dishy Mexcian meal and then downed a few vodkas while listening to the support bands (Kookaburra (cool) & also a female fronted pseudo-goth band (horrific)).
Then GVSB came on and - shit -the moshing was really over the top, even for an old timer like me. I was flattened within a matter of seconds. So I stood on a dodgy ledge thing to watch, with the contents of the girls toilets seeping beneath my feet. They gave good gig, Scott was supersexy as usual and the only baaad thing was that halfway through the one song encore (Let Me Come Back - I hoped he would, too) the venue switched all the lights on. It was well weird to see them covered in sweat under all those bright glaring lights - destroyed my dreams a bit i can tell you - I thought they only came out at night...
Anyway they were brilliant - X-Rated Car, Life in PInk & Bulletproof Cupid the best. But they didn't play Rockets are Red, my very favourite tune (To Joanne COOPER - remember it at the Leadmill last time?? *sigh*) . And that's all, they're still the greatest and they still sell tiny band t shirts that are too tight for me. But hey, that's thekindaclothesilike. i'm out... thanks for listening!
