Girls Against Boys rocked at CBGBs! For those of you who were there, this is probably the best place to see live music in New York. Hopefully, this won't be the last chance to see GVSB in such an intimate setting. Having seen them at Mercury Lounge, Brownie's, & Knitting Factory, I shudder to think that I may soon have to go to Roseland to see them. It was only four years ago that I saw Radiohead at Mercury Lounge. Anyway--

I snagged a copy of the set list off of the stage after the show & it goes as follows.

Park Avenue
Psycho Future
Learned It
Disco 666
Bulletproof Cupid
Roxy
Black Hole
Super Fire
Vera Cruz
Crash 17
Cowboys Orb
What Kinda Mzk You Like
Kill The Sexplayer

The encore was In Like Flynn plus two other new ones, the names of which I didn't get. I think they also played Cash Machine & Click Click but they weren't on the set list.

The guys were really on last night. Very intense! The new songs, while a little less bass heavy (Eli was on keyboards more than he played bass), they are still played GVSB style. The music is not a big departure from House Of GVSB. Although, I still need to hear the album to know where they went with the songs in the studio, I assume the electronica/sample element was somewhat toned down for the live performances despite the presense of The Commander. Guess we'll have to wait until June 2 to see just how far they went with it. Either way, GVSB fans will not be disappointed, that much can be said for certain after last night.
