The line was around the block for this show. Too bad nobody was there to see GVSB beside the dedicated…five. I waited for about forty five minutes where I was battered by many a disparaging remark about them. Some went along the line that they are pretty boys, glam boys who can not play and that the only reason that they are on this tour is because of the new album. When I tried to tell these blokes that GVSB were actually awesome, that I have seen them thirteen times and that they were handpicked by Garbage because they were big fans, the guys just laughed. Then Girls Against Boys took the stage.

They opened with Park Avenue, and I wish I could say that the place exploded, but it did not. I, looking like a fool, strarting to pogo up and down to the incrediable bass riff and the infectious groove that they whirled into the air. Eli looked like he wanted to break not only the keyboard, but himself as well. Scott stumbled around, obviously into the music so much that he could not keep his equiliberalim for any amount  of time. Jonny and Alexis were incrediably solid,. They may not moved around alot, but their ryhtem was enough for me to keep jumping up and down through songs like Park Ave, Roxy, Disco 666, Vera Cruz, Superfire, Let Me Come BAck, and I think Bullet Proof Cupid. There songs were intermingled with edgy noises and droppouts like in Vera Cruz, they laced a piano sample between lyrics.  The boys seemed pretty happy to be in their home town, dedicating a song to their parents, and bragging about be from DC, which was met by some applause. One of the big highlights was when they  threw a huge inflattable whale into the crowd to bump around. Now where I was not so keen on it, peoplle kept grabbing my glasses as they went for the oversize balloon, the guy who kept grabbing it and trying to deflate it was not liked by the rest of the croud.

Overall, their thirty five minute set was good. I wished they could have played longer and I wish they could have played some stuff off of Cruise yourself, but alas they did not. I did get to meet Eli and Scott after the show., which I thought was cool. They all hung out with their parents , who seemed surprised at how many people came back to meet them, which was about twenty or so. One asked me how mant times I had seen them, 14, he shook my hand and thanked me for supporting his son so he could eat. What the best thing about that night was I saw the guys who were making fun of GVSB walking back to the merchindise booth and buy all of the albums. Another convert.
