Well, well...the infamous news section. If I hear anything concerning the band, I'll put it in here. If you happen to know something I don't, mail me as per usual.

  • Here is some really good news from Alexis:
"We are recording our new album with Ted Niceley right now. We've been in preproduction since about 2 weeks ago and we started in the studio on Friday. We have laid down 5 songs so far and have a few more to go-I think its sounding really good. We are recording in this studio in Williamsburg (brooklyn) and Ted is making us work! We are plannning on about 12 songs and it will come out on Jade Tree. We are hoping for an April or May release date-I'm not sure yet. We are pretty excited about working with Jade Tree and have a few shows planned for the next year, as well as a tour down to Austin for SXSW."

    October 8

  • Hey, it's the one year anniversary of me having this site and I haven't screwed up too much! I was planning on trying out a new design, but I don't know if I'll do that or not because I've gotten mixed reactions from friends. But anyways, the important stuff. New Wet Kojak will be releasing an EP called "No. 4" in the US on Oct 23. Here's the track listing:

    1. LIVING 2 LoW

  • Also, thanks again to Eric for posting in the forums about the rescheduled GVSB show. The Village Underground show has been rescheduled for 10/13 and tickets can be bought at ticketweb.

    September 16

  • From the Official site:
"Due to the attacks on the World Trade Center and cleanup currently going on in the city, CMJ has been postponed until October 13-16. Our show at the Village Vanguard is no longer this Sunday. We will post the dates for the rescheduled show when we have them. We extend our deepest condolences for the victims and victims' families and anyone affected by this horrendous event."

    September 6

  • Some news: "Scott and Eli have been in the studio with a British band Seafood. The album is called ‘When Do We Start Fighting’ and is already on release in the UK. Eli Janney is the producer and Scott sings on the finale track of the album on a song called 'He Collects Dust.' The multimedia section on the cd has some behind the scenes footage with Scott. The Seafood web site is at www.seafood.uk.com" Thanks a lot to Chris for emailing this!

    September 3

  • GVSB Ground Zero has a little more info on the new show.  From the official site - "Since it's a CMJ show, tickets will be limited." Get your tickets fast. There is also some info on the tour page and forums.
  • Modern Drummer has interviewed Alexis about his part on the Series 7 soundtrack. The interview can be found on the articles page.
  • It's been a rough weekend and I am incredibly tired..anyone want to write a paper for me? :)

    August 31

  • There will be a show in NYC on Sept. 16! Get your butts there. All of the info is on the forums. Thanks to Eric for posting this info!
  • Also, there is another link to Bughouse you can use: http://www2.iastate.edu/~mcain/gvsb/index.html

    August 24

  • Just a few quick things..I added NWK's official page to the links page. Still working on getting the mp3s & videos up, but it might be a little while longer with a little less effort on my part. :) If anyone really wants something, email me at jivin_han@yahoo.com or mcain@iastate.edu and we'll set something up.

    August 10

  • Here is a review of Hedwig & The Angry Inch from The Onion's AV Club. GVSB contributed music to the movie version of the musical.

    July 17

  • Here is another review of the Series 7 soundtrack from The Kinda Muzik You Like.

    July 7

  • Will from The Intergalactic Frontline sent me a really good interview he did with Johnny recently. Check it out!

    June 24

  • Okay, I've figured out what I'm going to do as far as the mp3/video situation (yep, vids all around)...the only thing is that I can't do it yet because I will get the beat down from guys much larger than myself. Then, when I am able to set things up, guys about my size will only send me emails which I can ignore. Then they'll do their little thing...anyways, I still haven't decided if it will be accessible from the site or if I'll just keep it a 7Seas thing. I'll let you know when something happens though. Thank you for your patience.

    June 22

  • With my one summer class completed a week ago, I now have an obscene about of free time. So, if anybody has any suggestions for the site, please email me at jivin_han@yahoo.com or mcain@iastate.edu.
  • There was some GVSB discussion on the Shellac mailing list about the Series 7 soundtrack and their future plans. I actually joined in the discussion, just to give some info on their label situation right now.
  • I have a fix for the mp3s and videos, but I don't know whether it will be a 7Seas specific thing or not. I'll decide in the next day or so. Sorry for all the hastles, but nobody seems to want to give me enough space or bandwidth for free...

    June 15

  • A good review of the Series 7 soundtrack was sent to me from Abbey at musictoday.com. Check it out!

    June 6

  • The first update in June...and it's really nothing major. I just changed the color of the scroll bars. If that was a really bad idea, let me know or use the forums. Other than that, things are pretty quiet.

    May 16

  • The contest is over now, I've given away all the copies that I have. Congrats to everyone who entered! Don't worry though, there will be some more prizes coming in the near future.

    May 15

THE CONTEST THAT SHOULD'VE HAPPENED 3 WEEKS AGO!

The first 5 people who email me at jivin_han@yahoo.com, naming a band GVSB has toured with and a producer they've worked with will win a copy of the Series 7: The Contenders soundtrack! All you have to do is email me with the answer and I'll fill you in on the rest.

Don't be disappointed if you don't win, there will be more prizes coming! And it won't take me another 3 weeks to get it set up!

Thanks to Kate at Koch Entertainment for setting this up and being so patient with my sluggishness.

    April 24

  • Hopefully nobody noticed, but I missed about 5 or so of the mp3s when I redid the multimedia page. Hopefully no one is keeping track of how many times I've messed this up either. :) Just hit refresh and that should show you the new page. no more school please...

    April 18

  • Since stas.net apparently crashed again for the 100th time, I'm moving things over to a new server. Just go to the multimedia page to download as usual. Thanks Laura for bringing this to my attention. I'm really sorry for all the inconvenience this has caused. I'll probably just end up buying some space soon to host the mp3s and the movies.

    April 17

  • After months of hard work encoding the mp3 bit by bit straight from vinyl and going through Etan's 5 Star Quality Control (c), Red Bar is finally available for download. Red Bar is very good stuff, you should download it immediately.

    April 11

  • Anyone use the Forum? If no one uses it, somebody have a better idea for something like this? I'd use something like the old guestbook, but I don't know cgi or even if ISU supports it. I'm always looking for ways to improve the site, so let me know.

    April 7

  • Etan posted this to 7Seas on the 5th:
There's also this blurb from pitchforkmedia.com (all good news, I'd say):
    <<
In a conversation with Spin Online, Eli Janney and Alexis Fleisig of Girls
Against Boys revealed some interesting facts related to the band's possible
future projects. First and foremost, the guys have recorded roughly 20 demo
songs-- some with producer Ted Niceley-- and hope to have a record out by
the end of the year. However, they don't yet have a title, concrete
recording plans, or even a label; apparently, their motivation to get out of
    bed was only recently acquired.
We kid, of course. The members of GVSB have actually been quite busy since
the release of 1998's Freak*on*ica, involved in such endeavors as side
project New Wet Kojak, scoring the movie Series 7, making music for
Playstation 2 games, and screaming sexily at whoever, or whatever, is close
at hand. Maybe they did that to some exec at Interscope; they were just
released from their contract with the major. Good for them.

    April 4

  • I just recieved a press release about what's going on with the new album. Here's hoping a record company steps up soon. Who in their right mind wouldn't? ; )

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GIRLS AGAINST BOYS CONTRACT WITH GEFFEN RECORDS
    TERMINATED BY MUTUAL AGREEMENT.

ROCK GROUP CITES FEELINGS OF "ELATION"; BAND MEMBERS
SEEN SKIPPING NAKED THROUGH CENTRAL PARK, NYC.

Girls Against Boys (GVSB) released their first full-length album,
"Tropic of Scorpio," on Adult Swim Records in 1992. Their next three
albums "Venus Luxure No.1 Baby," "Cruise Yourself," and "House of GVSB" were
brought public by Touch and Go Records in the mid-'90s. Their fifth album,
"FREAK*ON*ICA," released in 1998, was their first and last for Geffen Records.
GVSB recently scored the film "Series 7"; the soundtrack will soon be available on
Koch Records. The band also contributed music to the forthcoming movie,
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch." GVSB have many new songs, and will soon record
their next album. They do not yet have a new label, and have been too busy
drinking champagne to think coherently about it.

    ***

GVSB will grant a limited number of interview requests. For more information,
    contact Johanna Ingalls at GVSBHQ@aol.com

    March 29

  • To make up a bit for not updating the site in a month or so, I've posted 3 live mp3s. I don't have any more of their live stuff, so if any one has anything other than this & would like to contribute, let me know. Also, the great and famous Etan and I have joined forces yet again on posting another mp3. More to come as I get the OK from higher powers.

    March 25

  • Oh man, it's been a long time. I don't think a whole lot has happened since the last update though. NWK has some new tour dates in Europe. Series 7 is getting some good reviews and the soundtrack comes out April 24. I don't think there is any new info on the new album. I've also got some live mp3s that hopefully everyone will be able to get the first time they try to download it. Who knows, it may be my own computer. If anyone has anything to add, email me and it'll be up here with your name on it.

    February 26

  • This was taken from a post from whiggedout@__.__ on 7seas a while ago regarding Series 7: The Contenders. Sorry, it's late and I've got way too much other stuff to do. :)

    February 15

  • Not really news, but Yahoo bought out egroups a while ago, which means 7seas has moved yet again. I'll be changing the links over sporadically. The old ones still work, they just redirect you to the Yahoo Groups site. Also, the Opinion button takes you straight to the forums now.

    February 10

  • New mp3! It's called "Volume Kills" and is off the Terror Firmer soundtrack. Thanks to Eric for sending it to me.

    February 7

  • Mp3s are back up? I guess stas.net did some upgrading and forgot to tell everyone. Hopefully it won't happen again. I'm playing with the idea of buying some space and a domain to put the movies and eventually the site on after Iowa State kicks me out.

    January 29

  • Mp3s are down. Stas.net is where I'm storing them and I can't access their site. Sorry for the inconvenience! If you're really dying for the mp3s, email me at jivin_han@yahoo.com.

    January 23

  • Slightly updated the discography.

    January 20

  • Okay, I just checked www.gvsb.com and FINALLY the tour dates match up. White Hassle is playing with them on a few shows. Way to go Pollstar for not keeping up to date. : )

    January 18

  • Another new tour date in Portland for $8. Great deal there. Thanks to Matthew for relaying this to me.

    January 11

  • Looks like that attempt at a fix sucked. I changed it back. If it still takes you to a "Page not found" page, right click on the page and click refresh.

    January 10

  • New mp3s with a work around to that info page. There is now a referrer URL, http://go.to/bughouse to shorten the address up a bit. Use either one to access the site.

    January 3, 2001

  • Slight change in tour dates. Pollstar says one thing, but The Official Site says another thing. I'm going with the band's site on this one.

    December 20

  • More new tour dates, east and west coast mainly.

    December 7

  • Three new concert dates on the east coast. Check out the tour page for details.

    October 15

  • Some great news from Alexis (thanks Etan):
"As for us, well we've got some good news: you are right, we've got about 14 songs recorded and are slowly negotiating with Interscope to get it released. We are recording 6 or 7 new songs next Sunday with Ted Niceley-these songs are even stronger than the previous 14 I think so when all is said and done we should have 20 songs ready for an album. We can either go the lucrative Use Your Illusion route (which I doubt would be especially lucrative) or we can release a great 11 or 12 song record. This is a position we've always wanted to be in-to go into a studio and pick the best of the lot and come out with a really strong album and so here we are finally in that position. Not bad. And we are really excited about working with Ted again. We are also trying to put together some shows in December or January, with a possible tour in January to get things oiled up a little bit. On top of that we've done the music for this movie called Series 7: the Contenders that looks pretty great-It is supposed to come out in January."

  • Bughouse moved and was taken over by me, Mike. As you can see, the news section isn't anywhere near up to date. It will be in a while.
